Tour A (5 Days)
Marrakech > Ait Ben Haddou > Draa Valley > Tamegrout > Erg Chegaga > Tazenakht
Pickup from the airport Marrakech-Menara and transfer to Riad in Medina of Marrakech. The afternoon is at leisure. We would be happy to show you the city to give you a first impression of Morocco.
The journey goes over the mountains of the High Atlas to the Berber villages to Ait Ben Haddou with its unique Kasbah. Then we continue to Ouarzazate and arrive in Zagora that lies in the Draa Valley. Here you’ll spend your first night in a hotel or riad.
You have the opportunity to visit the historical town of “Tamegrout”, then we continue to the last city before reaching the desert where our camels are waiting for us. After a two-hour camel ride we rest amidst the desert dunes for lunch. After 2 more hours of trekking, you will continue to the nomad camp where you will be served dinner in an authentic atmosphere in a tent or in the dunes. At the crackling camp fire you’ll listen to traditional music before spending the night in a nomad tent.
After breakfast the trekking tour starts anew which takes 3.5 hours and leads you to a nomad fountain. After lunch, you will be taken to the sacred oasis. Just in time for the sunset, you will reach the vast dunes of Erg Chegaga, the largest dune group in the region, reaching an altitude of 300 meters and extending over 40 km. You’ll stay in a fortified Bivouac in nomad tents or under the starry sky if you wish. After dinner, you will enjoy drum music.
On the last day of the journey you will climb the dunes to admire the sunrise. After an authentic desert breakfast, you pass a portion of the old Paris-Dakar Ralley slope and reach Lake Iriki, which is the habitat of many birds. Most of the time of the year the lake is dry until it is flooded by heavy rainfall from the north. You will have lunch in the town of Taznakht and arrive at Marrakech around 18:00.
