Tour B (2 Days)
Marrakesch > High Atlas > Ouarzazate > Draa-Valley > Zagora > Desert of Mhamid
The journey goes over the High Atlas and over the 2260m high Tizi-n-Tichka Pass with its overwhelming view. The steep road lined with oak forests and walnut trees leads past the clay and stone houses of the Berber villages and mountain streams. When the pass is crossed, the steep road descends into the almost moonlike landscape of the Antiatlas until we reach Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco (visit of the Kasbah Taorit), afterwards we continue to the Draà Valley. From the waters of the High Atlas, a long stretched oasis, the Draà Valley, reaching from Ouarzazate to Mhamid. The most beautiful part of the oasis with millions of date palm trees stretches from Agdz to Zagora.
At the end of the Draà Valley, we reach Mhamid, a small village and starting point for the journey to the Sahara. We’ll reach our bivouac in the dunes of Mhamid. Enjoy the sunset on the back of the dromedaries and a typical dinner with a romantic nomad flair. You’ll spend the night in a desert bivouac.
After breakfast in our desert bivouac we head north through the Draa Valley. Via Zagora and Ouarzazate, we finally reach Ait Ben Haddou, a Kasbah built of mud bricks. Protected as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is considered to be the most beautiful and famous Kasbah in Morocco and served as a backdrop for films such as “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Jesus of Nazareth” or “Gladiator”. After the visit of the Kasbah we cross the High Atlas and will return to Marrakech in the evening.
